blogging truth

as a primarily ya book blogger, it's easy for me to get caught up in comparing myself to other blogs. enjoy some examples of my neurotic self comparing to other blogs...

"oh man, i love that feature, i wish i did that"
"they had HOW many people enter their contest?!"
"dude, that is one awesome comment train happening on their post."

and so on.

a couple weeks ago, Jamie at Perpetual Page-Turner made a blogging manifesto. it was, in short, inspiring. a week later, i posted a "Who Is Lisa the Nerd" page on my blog. in that, i stake claim to who i am, why i blog, and what i blog about. i feel like that has given me direction and purpose and freedom to continue forward making this blog the blog that I want it to be and not the blog i THINK others want it to be.

then i came across this post this morning in my Google Reader from Problogger. it opens with the Oscar Wilde quote: "Be yourself; everyone else is already taken." and i am TOTALLY a sucker for thought provoking quotes, so i was sucked in. but the content is what made me stay.  essentially, the article details why you should be happy with your blog and spoke directly to my heart. particularly The Comparison Trap and The Blog is You. so good.

Lisa is a gamer, crafter, fangirl, mother, wife and unabashed nerd who is pretty ridiculous and it's best you know that up front. When she's not binge watching Netflix or crafting into the wee hours of the night, you can find her spending a lot of her time on Pinterest and Twitter.
