Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by the lovelies at The Broke and The Bookish.
This week, their question is:
Top 10 books you read in 2012.
Top 10 books you read in 2012.
YOU GUYS.
Okay fine. I'll try.
Please note these are not in any particular order because I just can't.
The Iron King by Julie Kagawa. Honestly, when I read this book I preordered the box set. BASED ON THE FIRST BOOK. I regret nothing. Thank you forever to Yani from The Secret Life of an Avid Reader for starting my obsession!
The Monstrumologist by Rick Yancey. This book was legit creepy and so well written and could totally be a crossover to Adult Fiction. I loved it so. And it's a series so HOLLA.
Wanderlove by Kristen Hubbard. This book, courtesy of Tara at Hobbitsies, resonated so deeply with me that I felt as if Kristen were writing about ME. Which is really something because I'm not huge on traveling. But the self discovery and the the characters were just so REAL and FIT my teenage experience to a T. Amazing.
Seraphina by Rachel Hartman. Um hi yeah there were DRAGONS so you know.
The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight by Jennifer E. Smith. It was a quick, heartfelt, and meaningful read. So much was packed into that story!
Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn. Again, duh.
Blood Red Road by Moira Young. I read this book like a FIEND you guys. I couldn't stop! I never wanted the story to end! But when it did it was so satisfying and awesome and I loved it so. I'm anxiously awaiting book 2!
Unravel Me by Tahereh Mafi. WARNER FOREVER. Haters to the left.

Amy & Roger's Epic Detour by Morgan Matson. I listened to this on audio thanks to April at Good Books and Good Wine and as soon as it was over I felt like I was missing out on the lives of two friends. They've been my constant car companions and I MISS THEM. You know how I feel about self discovery, don't you?! Well this was packed with it and so many great developments. Solid.
Did you read any of these this year? What were some of your faves?
YAY BOOKS.
Warner!!! I love your list.
ReplyDeleteYou get me.
DeleteI AM WARNER HATE BOMBING THIS LIST! BOO WARNER! GO AWAY WARNER!
ReplyDelete(Okay, but the rest of the list is spot-on and I love it and let's all agree to disagree and live merrily together on the interwebs from this moment forward xoxoxo)
oxo
DeleteI can't wait to get more into Seraphina! I love it already! Also yes, Gone Girl.
ReplyDeleteI remember when I first read Amy and Roger... I finished it on the train and I closed it and was like DAMN that was so good. I feel like that was one of the first YAs I read that was so complex and wonderful at the same time. Morgan can do no wrong. I've been meaning to go back and reread those but I just haven't yet. SOON.
ReplyDeleteAs soon as it was over I just sat in the car like.........NOW WHAT?! I think Second Chance Summer is coming my way in no time. :)
DeleteAmy & Roger is just.. It's so brilliant. I read it while I was still on vacation in the Philippines, and I just fell in love with it!
ReplyDeleteAlso, TSPOLAFS and Anna are just way too charming. I really want to reread them next year!
I did love Wanderlove too, simply because I felt the same way about it. I've always wanted to travel and explore the world, and I totally could relate to this story.
Hmm. Warner. Hmm. I will reserve judgment till I read Destroy Me & Unravel Me.
And, oh, Seraphina. Dragons. YES.
Just be open to what Warner has to offer. That's all I ask.
DeleteI had a hard time with Unravel Me, it wasn't my book. But I can't wait for the final book to see how it all plays out!

ReplyDeleteOkay, I cried a little because most of your picks are on my TBR list and, seriously, I just can't seem to catch up! I reeeeeeeeeeally want to check out Seraphina (I <3 dragons) and Gone Girl and The Monstrumologist in particular. Why have I not read these!?!?
ReplyDeleteThere are so many good books out there! I feel you.

*takes hesitant step to the left*...but...*takes deep breath and continues to left corner* I can't cross over to the dark side, lisa!! He's soooo tempting *pets the Warner*
ReplyDeleteAlso, YAY for Iron King!! And Anna! And I'm going to be reading Amy & Roger SOON! Like, I have the book from the library soon.
YES OMG let me know what you think of Amy and Roger when you finish it!
DeleteAmy and Roger is definitely a fav of mine. I really need to listen to it on audio. Serephina was sooo good and Gone Girl... O.o
ReplyDeleteHaha, I completely agree with the dragon sentiment ;-) Here is my TTT
ReplyDeleteI haven't read Unravel Me yet, I KNOW I KNOW!
ReplyDeleteBUT YES! I LOVE YOUR LIST!
And omg I was so sad after Amy And Roger, because you are right -- it's like your car companions are gone.
AND GONE GIRL! That book. So freakin amazing.
I didn't love The Iron Fey series but like you I only just read it but I did LOVE Grimalkin - I would read a series based on him alone!
ReplyDeleteAnd now I regret returning Amy & Roger to the library before I had time to read it - will have to borrow it again, STAT!
Also 10,000 pts for using a pic of Mim the dragon from The Sword in the Stone!
Duh Anna and the French Kiss. Statistical Probability was totally adorable & had more depth than I expected. Gone Girl was SO pyscho! My brain is still recovering from all the mind blowing craziness in that book.
ReplyDeleteHave you read Second Chance Summer? I loved it even more than Amy & Roger. It made me cry... and I don't cry in books.
ANDDDD I own Seraphina, but still haven't read Seraphina. I should get on that, huh?
