Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by those rad chicks over at The Broke and The Bookish.
This week they ask: Top Ten Settings I’d Like to See More Of (Or At All)
Okay, how about this. I’ll say 5 settings I need to READ more of and then 5 settings I’d LIKE to see more of in general. Deal? Sweet.
5 Settings I’d Like To See More Of:

2. Road Trips. Books on the road are so cool. Mainly because there’s lots of time for discussion and playlists and other such things.
3. 24 hour time frame. I adored Statistical Probability because it almost felt like I was experiencing it in real time. Also I adored it because it was fantastic.
4. Slumber parties. Because even as an adult, slumber parties are one of my favorite things about life.
5. Dinosaurs. SURELY there’s a way for a YA author to write an awesome story involving dinos...yes? Right? PLEASE?
5 Settings I Need To Read More Of:

2. Historical Fiction. I love history and I love fiction so why I don’t read historical fiction is really beyond me.
3. The Wilderness. I dig the dystopian genre a whole heckuva lot and I like it a lot more when they are on the run in the wild (such as Eve).
4. Music Centered. I love love lovvvvveeeddd Audrey, Wait! so I definitely need to get back on the music-as-the-focus bandwagon again.
5. Futuristic. I’m a nerd and I like sci-fi books set in the future. I need to keep in tune with my bookish loves, you know?
What about you? Do you have any recommendations for what settings I need to read more of? Or suggestions on where I can find more settings I want to see more of? Let me know!
Yes to Dinosaurs!!! I would love to see some!
ReplyDeleteYES. When will this happen?!
DeleteWhy are our lists very similar??! Oh probably because we're awesome :) haha
ReplyDeleteHogwarts! I'll see you there!
ReplyDeleteIn all seriousness, surprised I just saw this particular choice now! GOOD IDEA.
Hehe, yes, more Hogwarts please! I also love the idea of the 24hr time-frame. Great list! :-)
ReplyDeleteHogwarts! Yes! That's always a good choice.
ReplyDeleteAlso, slumber parties ROCK and you know it ;)
I love slumber parties and I will never stop having them.
DeleteI have the wilderness on my list, too! I totally didn't think anyone else was going to have that. I have Eve on my nook but haven't read it yet. I'm going to have to check that one out!
ReplyDeleteIt's so wilderness-riffic!
DeleteYes! Future books (more specifically, awesome time travel books). Let's do this, authors! Oh man, and you just stole my heart with dinos. I luuuuuurv me some dinos. Oh! ADD great idea --- how about dinos IN THE FUTURE?! This needs to happen.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I could go for a Hogwarts book. I don't even care if they're bad. Just... Hogwarts. Yes. And dinosaurs? Uh... that would be the most epic thing ever. Seriously, this needs to happen.
ReplyDeleteLOL. I almost listed Hogwarts too. But then I thought the only person that can write Hogwarts is JK Rowling, and I kind of like that HP is finished. Since it's limited, it makes it more special. That said, if she wrote any more Hogwarts, I would be all over that :)
ReplyDeleteUm hi, your picks are BRILLIANT! I want to read more about all of these things and mostly: dinos? Yes please! And more yeses for slumber parties and 24 hour time frames. And music centered books. All of the yeses! (Is that even a word?)
ReplyDeleteSo many things we could read about that are awesome!
DeleteRoad trips are on my list too and YES to dinosaurs!!! :) My TTT list: http://aliceinreaderland.wordpress.com/2013/01/21/settings/
ReplyDeleteAlice @ Alice in Readerland
I am all for more road trip and beachy reads - they're two of my fave settings!
ReplyDeleteAnd, I like the new blog design, Lisa!
Thank you!
DeleteHOGWARTS!! Yes, all the way. Everyone needs to pressure J.K. Rowling like crazy to just write more more more books set in the Harry Potter world.
ReplyDeleteErmehgerd dinosaurs are pretty much the best thing ever. Seriously. There should be a book like How To Train Your Dinosaur (instead of Dragon...best movie ever). Awesome list! My TTT
HOGWARTS!!!! YES!!!!
ReplyDeleteDinosaur books? That would be awesome! :D
ReplyDeleteIf Doctor Who can make Dinosaurs on a Spaceship (I'm fairly certain that was the actual title of the episode) cool then certainly there could be an awesome YA book.
ReplyDeleteAs long as it doesn't become a trend. I can't even imagine what it would be like if the market was suddenly flooded with dinosaur books...
YES to all of these! Especially Hogworts! Dinos in YA would be pretty awesome. Someone needs to make that happen.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you on historical fiction and dinosaurs. Better yet historical fiction with dinosaurs. :-)
ReplyDeleteYAYYYY HOGWARTS!!! Totally agree on road trips - they make for such interesting reading! I hadn't thought of the 24 hour time frame thing, but I love that one! Good idea :) Hahaha yessss slumber parties!
ReplyDeleteYou should totally read more historical fiction! It's my favorite genre lady!
You should recommend some my way! :)
DeleteAhhhhh!!! Hogwarts! YES! I would give my first born child if Rowling would write a 7 books series about the Marauders.
ReplyDeleteAnd I think you're on to something with the 24 hour time frame thing. Especially in our current tech-driven world, so much could possibly happen in 24 hours... Hmmm. The possibilities!
And Dinosaurs!!! I totally geeked out at age.. like.. 22 when I went to the NYC Museum of Natural History and saw the dino bones for the first time. So freaking awesome. We need some YA dinosaurs ASAP
Great list!
